Uilleam and Chelsea

This is the page where you see what you can expect from this blog/micro site! This is a Christian blog written by a California woman and her husband, a Scotsman who has moved to California; both reside in Exeter, California.

The first question you may ask is “Why Mac Gafraidh?” well the answer is very simple. It is our name! In the language called Gaelic, the name Mac Gafraidh is translated into “Son of Godfrey” It is applied to such surnames as Mc Cafferty, Cafferty, Caffrey, Mc Caffrey, Caffer, Mc Caffer and some other variations of the name also.

The name originates from modern day Northern Ireland (Irish – “Tuaisceart Éireann”) in the ancient province of Ireland (Irish – “Éire”), as in the island, not any political state, called Ulster. (Irish – “Ulaidh”) The part of Northern Ireland it originates from is Co. Fermanagh (Irish – “Contae Fhear Manach”) and Co. Tyrone (Irish – “Contae Thír Eoghain”). You can read a far more in depth history at the link at the bottom of this page.

The point of this whole endeavour is to bring a humorous take on Scottish culture clashing with American culture, write about my life. (If anyone is interested) One of our goals is to share the gospel of Jesus Christ with the folks that visit, one of the major things that make us who we are is the fact we are Christians. This site is simply a window of the madness that envelops our life here.

Both Chelsea (Chelsea Nic Gafraidh) and William Scott (Uilleam Mac Gafraidh) will write blogs when they have time. We hope to be at least consistent in updating the site regularly. The endeavour is to turn this into a family project. We have been blogging since 2007 so this is not our first project!

William Scott first started his original blog when we moved to the states to categorize and get down some of the stuff that was happening in his life. Chelsea joined the blog shortly after and it was decided that a joint project was best.

All links on the right hand side are supplied for reference only and we take no responsibility for the content on sites we do not individually service or update. Should the links point to a site that does not follow the description listed, please let us know and we shall investigate and if appropriate remove the site.

Should you wish your site to be included then feel free to let us know.

I hope you enjoy the small view we are giving you into our lives.

God Bless

Hi, guys. I’m so blessed that you posted my wife and I on your blog (http://macgafraidh.com/missions/israel/). For security reasons, we’d like to ask you to not use our last name. You can refer to us as “John Michael & Abra” or “Operation Nicodemus”. There are also some archived items including music available on the “Tehillim” blog (http://tehillim2009.blogspot.com/). Again, thanks for blessing us with your prayers.
