Agape

In case you are curious what “Agape” is and what it is all about, well it is simple.

Chelsea and Uilleam started a bible study in their home aimed at the new believer’s level to teach through the word of God. This began in August 2008 and still runs to the present day.  (Albeit in a new location) 

The choosing of the name Agape was not done by accident. It was done with a lot of prayer and the name is also a sort of mission statement if you will. This is handy due to us being like in the mission field in Central California.  

Agape means simply “love”. We wish to show love to folks in a brotherly love fashion by being benevolent to them, blessing them in both words and deeds. Showing affection above and beyond the call of duty. The type of love that Jesus had on a fallen world.  

Traditionally we provided “love feasts” (like the book of Jude) every Sunday evening at 6.00pm in our home in Exeter, California. We do this to allow folks the chance to dine with us, to fellowship with us that wouldn’t normally see us on a weekly basis. It also helps us form a community that is ready and able to help each other and hold each other accountable on a weekly basis. This is a true work of God in progress.  

Uilleam taught a Bible study at 7.00pm following the meal in the front room of his home. (Childcare was provided) It is a verse by verse, inductive Bible study based on the Word of God first and foremost; it is taught in the way that Calvary Chapel teaches. It is our aim to do the following in Exeter. 

• Teach the Word of God unto Salvation
• Disciple new believers in the Word of God. 

It is our aim to help the community of Exeter, California. We also aim to preach the word to all who have not heard it. This gift is free and we aim to follow the great commission in Matthew 28 which advises is to: 

“Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost:”   

As of December 2008, we decided to re-begin the Bible Study at the Cappella Coffee House on D Street in Exeter on Monday nights at 6.00pm (usually concludes by 7.30pm) Studying the book of Genesis. We would love to see you there, more details can be found on the website here.
